Joe is in Rio at the moment about to sail for Ushuaia in a boat smaller than a London bus. Through limited email he sent us this message:

Rio. Heat. More heat. It’s been 30 in the shade here, which for someone from Northern Europe is close-to-unbearable. A great welcome from the Brazillians, and some great wildlife – flycatchers, black vultures, jays (missed those guys) and of course capuchin monkeys!

We cast off in a few hours, next stop is Ushuaia, around 2,000 miles to our south. During the next few weeks the temperature will plunge around 20 celsius, and the seas will get bigger. And bigger.

Phew! Wish you were there?
